Mike provides his own views on making films on a shoe string
Had the privilege to see a great short film, then Q&A with director Christian Rivers yesterday down at Rata Studios.
'Feeder' is a supernatural thriller and an excellent watch. I won't give away too much, but it's based around a musician who's lost his musical inspiration and is then challenged by an opportunity to succeed and the questions is, how far emotionally, spiritually, morally and ethically is he prepared to go to be a success? It was great to hear the director himself talk about the process and inspirations, along with the challenges of making short films. Check out the promo by clicking here.

The big question for a shoe string film maker is 'to buy or not to buy'? On the one hand if you purchase you can end up with a piece of equipment that goes out of style too quickly. On the other you have to beg, borrow and get pretty close to stealing every time you want to make a film.
I've been doing my research and concluded that for me, buying is the best option and I've gone for the Panasonic G7. Why you ask? Well I'll explain when my new baby arrives. Bare with me! |
